Hey everyone, been diving deep into the world of basketball coaching lately, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. So, I got really interested in this guy, Josh Schertz. You know, the coach that everybody is talking about now. I was like, “Who is this dude, and why is everyone so hyped?”
First off, I started digging into his past. Found out the guy started small, you know? He was a student assistant at Florida Atlantic way back in the 1999-2000 season. It’s always cool to see someone start from the bottom. From there, I traced his journey through the coaching ranks. He spent a good chunk of time at Lincoln Memorial. I looked up their records, season by season. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. His first season there, in 2008-09, they were just 14-14 overall. But, man, did he turn things around! By 2010-11, they were 27-3, absolutely crushing it.
I spent hours looking through all these old game records, and newspaper articles. It is clear that this guy knows how to build a team. He’s won a ton of championships in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). Apparently, he has 13 SAC titles, the most of any coach ever in that league. That’s huge!
Then, I found out he moved on to Indiana State. This is where things got even more interesting. In just three seasons, he took them to the NIT championship game. They had a record of 32-7 this past season. That’s insane! I watched some of their games from this season, and you can see his impact. The way they play, it’s like he completely changed their game.
Getting the News
- Checked out the news on April 6th and saw that Saint Louis University announced him as their new head coach.
- Read the articles about his appointment and what people are saying about it.
Now, he’s at Saint Louis University. They just announced him as the head coach of the Billikens. They had a rough season last year, going 13-20, and it looks like they’re shaking things up. Bringing in Schertz is a big move. I’m really curious to see how he’s going to do there.
I even checked out what other coaches and analysts are saying about him. One guy said, “Josh Schertz hasn’t been a great Division II coach or Division I coach. He has been, and is, a great basketball coach, period.” That’s some high praise. It made me even more interested in following his career.
So, yeah, that’s been my little adventure into the world of Josh Schertz. Started by looking up his early career, then tracked his success at Lincoln Memorial, followed his journey to Indiana State, and now I’m all set to see what he does at Saint Louis. It’s been a blast piecing together his story. Definitely going to keep an eye on him. You never know, he might just be the next big thing in college basketball!
