Alright, so I wanted to get a feel for how the Wisconsin Badgers are shaping up for the upcoming season. You know how it is, gotta see who’s looking like a starter and who’s backing them up. So, the first thing I did was try to track down the latest depth chart.

I hopped online and started digging around. Sometimes the official team site has something, other times you gotta check out the big sports news places that really follow the team closely. It took a bit of clicking around, comparing what different spots were saying. You know how these things can change fast, especially during camp.
Finding the Goods
Eventually, I pieced together what looks like the most current picture. It wasn’t just one perfect list handed to me, more like gathering info from recent practice reports and coach comments people were sharing.
Once I felt I had a decent idea, I started breaking it down position by position.
My Initial Look-Through
Here’s kinda what I went through:
- Quarterback: Always the first place I look. Wanted to see who’s taking the first-team snaps in practice reports. Looks like things are settling in there, but always interesting to see the backup situation too.
- Running Back: This is Wisconsin, right? So, checking out the running back room is key. Who’s getting the main carries? Any new guys making noise? Seems like the usual suspects are up top.
- Offensive Line: HUGE for the Badgers. Spent some time here just looking at the names listed for the starting five and the key backups. Gotta know who’s protecting the QB and opening holes. Looks like a mix of familiar faces and maybe some younger guys stepping up.
- Wide Receiver: This spot felt like it had some movement. Tried to figure out the top targets based on who’s running with the ones.
- Defense: Then I flipped over to the defense. Looked at the defensive line, linebackers – especially inside and outside – and then the secondary. Trying to see where the experience is and where younger players might need to contribute. Any position battles standing out?
- Special Teams: Didn’t forget about the kicker and punter. Always important!
Overall Thoughts
So after going through all that, you get a better sense of the team’s structure. It’s never final, of course. Guys get injured, coaches change their minds, freshmen impress. But doing this little exercise gives me a baseline. I can see potential strong points and areas where maybe there are questions.

It’s just my process for trying to get a handle on the team before things really kick off. Now I just gotta keep watching practice updates and see how it all shakes out. It’s always fun seeing how close my initial read was to what happens on game day.
