Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m diving into the stats from a Yankees vs. White Sox game. I’ve always been a numbers guy, so digging into player performances is my kind of fun. Let’s see what I did.

Firing Up the Data
First things first, I needed to find the data.I looked around for a reliable source of baseball stats, and ended up using a few sports data sites, but it can’t tell you there name, you know.
Getting My Hands Dirty
Once I had the data, it was time to get my hands dirty, and there was a lot of stuff I didn’t need! So,I start to pick up the data I want, such as:
- Batting: I wanted to see things like hits, home runs, RBIs, and batting average. You know, the usual stuff that tells you how well a batter did.
- Pitching: For pitchers, I focused on strikeouts, earned runs allowed, and WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched). That gives a good sense of how well they controlled the game.
- Specifc players perfomance: Find some players that I am interested about to see their performance.
I opened up my spreadsheet program . Started plugging in the numbers, creating some simple formulas to calculate averages and percentages. Nothing too fancy, just enough to make sense of it all.
What I Found
After crunching the numbers, a few things really stood out to do some simple compare.
I was not too surprised with the good performance of the super star, but what really impressed me is the new guy, wow,he did a good job!

Wrapping Up
So, that was my little data adventure for the day. It’s always fun to mess around with numbers and see what stories they tell. Hope you enjoyed this little peek into my process. Maybe it’ll inspire you to do some stat-hunting of your own!
